There are many leaders out there. There are leaders that claim the title, but have no followers and then there are the ones who just naturally lead title or not. In the business world there are three types of leaders. If leading groups of people is what you do each day, it is important to know which type of leader you are because it will affect how your team interacts with you.

1. A Leader by Position/Title

This is someone who has been given the responsibility of leading others in their job description. Because they didn’t work to achieve this position with the team by gaining their trust and respect (not that they may not have in the past and thus were given the position) they may need to spend extra time building solid relationships with the team members first.

2. A Leader by Knowledge

Some people find themselves leading others merely because they are the person with the most knowledge about a project or task. While this may be clear to those in the team, this leader needs to ensure they can handle setting goals, directing the efforts of the team and keeping the lines of communication open.

3. A Leader by Nature

This is the best kind of leader to be. This is someone who is an authentic leader, it comes to them naturally. They have proven themselves to be a leader through their actions, communication and knowledge. This type of leader is the one people will be drawn to, believe in and give 100%.
